India has committed to increase installed capacity of non-fossil fuel sources to 40% by 2030.

The PM-KUSUM scheme aims to ensure energy security for farmers across India by increasing the installed capacity of electric power from non-fossil fuel sources to 40% by 2030. This is part of India's Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs). There are three main aspects. A. 10,000MW of Decentralized GRound Grid Connected Renewable Power Plants and each plant size up to 2MW. B. Install 17.5 lakh solar powered agriculture pumps and C. Solarisation of 10 Lakh Grid connected agriculture pumps.

Create more carbon sinks by creating more forest and tree cover by 2030. The creation of 2.5-3Bn T of carbon dioxide sinks.

Achieve 40% cumulative electric power installed from non-fossil fuel based sources by 2030

Reducing India's emissions intensity of GDP by 33-35% by 2030 from 2005 level.

To strengthen integrated landscape management (ILM) for resilient forest management and biodiversity conservation, mainstreaming forest-fire mitigation and management, through local co-governance and capacities to address underlying drivers of biodiversity loss and degradation in critical ecosystems hosting globally significant biodiversity.

The objective of this project is to assist India in the preparation and submission of its Second and Third Biennial Transparency Reports for the fulfillment of the obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement (PA), in line with the Modalities, procedures and guidelines for the transparency framework for action and support  referred to in Article 13 of the Paris Agreement (Decision 18/CMA.[1] 1) and the guidance on operationalizing the MPGs as per Decision 5/CMA.3. The project will support India in achieving its global environment concerns and commitments to international conventions, and to integrate climate change considerations in national development planning and policy through ensuring continuity of the institutional and technical capacity building, partly initiated, and consequently sustained by reporting instruments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
