For power distribution entities that generate/purchase electricity from RE sources and end-use customers who self-generate electricity from RE sources (excluding hydropower sources of greater-than-30 MW capacity), the proportion shall not be less than 5%, 10% and 20% in 2020, 2030 and 2050 respectively.

Total biomass energy volume to be used shall rise from 14.4 million TOE in 2015 to 16.2 million TOE in 2020; approx. 32.2 million TOE in 2030 and 62.5 million TOE in 2050

Scale up the application of biogas technologies with a construction volume of from approx. 4 million m3 in 2015 to 8 million m3 in 2020; approx. 60 million m3 in 2030 and 100 million m3 in 2050

Strengthen nature-based solutions to restore ecosystems, and conserve and enhance blue carbon stocks with biodiversity, land protection and livelihood co-benefits in coastal landscape mosaics of the Mekong Delta

Local CSOs and CBOs in landscapes-seascapes around the world access grant financing and technical assistance, including capacity development and knowledge sharing to maintain and enhance their socio-ecological resilience, well-being and socio-economic conditions for global environmental benefits.

Viet Nam’s rapidly growing economy is placing increasing pressure on its natural resources, including forests. Despite a logging ban in 2016, the nation has faced challenges in balancing forest conservation with farmers' sustainability and economic development in rural areas. Proactive interventions to sustainably enhance forest management and agricultural productivity are necessary to reduce pressure on forests and enable them to continue acting as carbon sinks.

The project aims to set up an enabling environment, and address financial and technical barriers, to unlock the potential of communities and private agroforestry actors in partnership with the public and financial sectors, to invest in forest conservation and the development of deforestation-free value chains for commodities such as coffee and pepper, bamboo or fruits, as well as a variety of specialty products like honey, medicinal plants, mushrooms or silk.

The project will improve 145,000 hectares of land through agroforestry and community forest management and reduce deforestation pressures on 500,000 hectares of threatened natural forests in Central Viet Nam, enabling significant environmental and socio-economic co-benefits, primarily for Indigenous Peoples.

Many of the countries in Southeast Asia are among the most vulnerable to climate change. And yet, some of the countries in the region also have the most carbon-intensive growth. To achieve low emission, climate-resilient growth, these countries not only need climate technology transfer but also a regional ecosystem for climate technology incubation and acceleration. However, the Southeast Asian ecosystem for climate technology incubation, acceleration, and growth investment is nascent.

The Collaborative R&DB programme targets five countries in Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Philippines, and Viet Nam. The programme will create an incubation and acceleration platform to support and improve the local ecosystem for climate technology for low emission and climate-resilient development, which are fit-for-purpose for the local market and social conditions. The platform will also enable joint ventures and technology transfer, where appropriate, between local entrepreneurs and global climate technology innovators. These objectives will be achieved through a USD 200 million fund to crowd-in private capital, which will be complemented by technical assistance activities. The technical assistance will build regional and domestic capacity for climate technology, as well as provide enabling policy support. The Climate Techopreneurship Fund, which will be created under this programme, will invest in approximately 40 portfolio companies in the region. The investment in the climate technology and business of the portfolio companies are expected to ultimately reach 2.3 million direct and indirect beneficiaries.
